May 30, 2009Wedding completed. What a great event. Thanks to all who attended, emailed, left messages, or thought about us. The photographer is still working on some pictures so I only have a few at this moment that I'll post on the Web Log page. Things here are back to normal and I'm now catching up on work and such.
Look for some new paintings this coming week and several new things for ebay.
I've had website problems since this past Tuesday night because somehow it got some malicious code dropped into the index pages. I'm not exactly sure how it happened, but the problem is fixed and passwords changed. For the time being the forms are offline; send me an email if you want to be added to the mailing list. Thanks Beth. In the near future please let me know by email if something seems odd with the site.
Update: The site is back up and going. The embedded malware forward caused me to take the site down for nearly a day (Sunday); I reported it to Google until I was sure that it was 100% safe to visit. I'll be watching the site like a hawk to make sure this doesnt happen again.
There is a painting on ebay now (see above) and there will be another one starting on Thursday (Maine painting).
May 19, 2009This week I'm on vacation. Justyna and I get married this coming Saturday and we've got family in town. Painting and this website will go back to normal late next week. I won't have time to send out paintings this week, but if you want to hold something please send an email; I'll be away from email this Thursday to Tuesday.
May 7, 2009New painting up on ebay starting tonight - see above. The Winton Woods paintings are available now; they won't last long at these prices so email me to hold one.
April 20, 2009There were a number of paintings added today and some sold. The Union Terminal paintings are now in the Midwest Gallery on the left. I added a number of "other" paintings to the other categorie as well. This week I'll be working on some still lives and a Maine painting for ebay that I started last week. My website updating time is being reduced as we get closer to wedding time (May 23rd). Painting is coming along very well though; thanks for checking in and have fun.
April 10, 2009I've got a medium size still life done this week that turned out well. Its 19.7 x 15.7 inches. See picture below; I'll make a gallery page for it when I get back - with a better digital. It'll have a super price of only $350 and I'll pay to ship it. (edit: sold; thank you)
I'm going to be out of town until Tuesday night and away from email and the such.
April 6, 2009Two new paintings are posted below. The first one is an island that is off of the Schoodic Point area, Maine. The second is a cafe here in Warsaw on the first sunny day this spring. I didn't list anything new on ebay last week as I'll be out of town this coming weekend until Wednesday, but look for something very soon. The two Winton Woods paintings below are now available and in the midwest gallery.

March 27, 2009This weekend I'll be out of town again delivering invitations. I added a nice Coastal Maine painting to the Maine gallery; it has nice stroke work and strong palette. I'll be back Sunday night.
March 20, 2009I've updated some of the content on the site and added a couple pictures on the statement and studio pages.
There are two Cincinnati paintings I just completed that were quite interesting to paint as the setting and compositions are essentially from memory; I was able to use Last Evening in Winton Woods as a template for the palette. (edit: see paintings above May 7, 2009) Also this week I've got a small lobster boat painting done. The two Cincinnati paintings are on hold, but Cold Day for Lobsters is now for sale.
March 15, 2009I just got back from Piotrkow. We personally invited 16 sets of people and have a little less than 40 left. I was saying before, in Poland its traditional to hand delivery wedding invitations. Its much more complex than just dropping them off and waving goodbye. Its normal to enjoy a meal, share stories, drink vodka (for the non drivers), and hang out. I especially like the idea of this, but the down side is all of my weekends are now planned out for wedding invitation delivery.
Its too late to send out an advertisement so I won't do that tonight. I've got another Quoddy Head painting coming up for ebay this Thursday in addition to the one thats ending tonight. The Union Terminal set is now for sale; Each is listed at 275.
March 14, 2009Justyna and I are going out of town this weekend. We'll be back Sunday night. In Poland its traditional to hand deliver all wedding invitations. There are also two levels of invitation: the church / reception and church part only. I'll send out an advertisement on Sunday when we get back.
March 6, 2009 Midwest - Union Terminal is complete.
The series is arranged in order; please start here or view them in the Midwest landscape gallery to the left.
March 5, 2009There is a nice Quoddy Head Maine painting up on ebay tonight that'll end Sunday the 15th - 2052 years after Julius. Above I also added a space for an extra painting to make watching auctions easier for frequent visitors. I've completed 8 paintings of the series and it is now done. I've already got good digitals, but the page for them is not completed yet. Please look for those this weekend.
February 20, 2009I'll be out of town this weekend and will be back either Sunday night or Tuesday night. I'm not sure right at this moment, but I won't have computer access when away. The series of paintings that I am working on is nearly completed and they are impressive. I don't have any sneak previews at this time. I did do a semi quick still life that'll go up on ebay when I get back; see above.
February 12, 2009No big updates today. I've been wrestling with my printer all night; we're printing our own wedding invitations and the printer and paper were enemies in a past life it seems. As far as painting goes - I'm still working on the series I mentioned below and its coming along great although I had 1 large change to the initial work for one of the paintings. There is a Maine painting on ebay starting tonight; click the image on the top right of this page to be taken to the listing. Have fun everyone.
February 9, 2009I'm currently hard at work on a series of paintings for a show on this site. I haven't determined exactly how many will be part of the series as I'm still working on the story. I'll have some good smaller works for ebay this week that are not related.
I finally broke down and got up on facebook. That'll be a good place for personal pictures of my adventures in Europe and to keep in touch with friends; feel free to add me.
February 2, 2009I'm done with some site updates. The galleries links have been changed and sold paintings are now the minority. I made this change because the old layout was overwhelming to new visitors. There are more changes in the future as I complete different series of paintings. I've also cut 5-10% of the html so the site should load slightly quicker.
January 23, 2009I'm back in the swing of things after being knocked out with some crazy cold for a couple days. I've got a new painting up on ebay and the one from Isle Au Haut will go up soon too. The isle Au Haut painting was actually supposed to be first, but I didn't get it started on Thursday so I'll wait until next for it to start. I did manage to complete a rather unexciting painting while I was feeling totally weak and misserable yesterday (see below).
January 20, 2009In light of Inauguration Day I painted the painting below from a public domain photo; its very close to being done and I'll stealth update the digital very soon.
![[painting: Obama]](journal/journal209.jpg)
Below is a painting of Schoodic Point (edit: SOLD).
January 12, 2009 The painting on the right will start on ebay tonight and end on Thursday the 22nd at 11:16pm (EST). I have this strange feeling there are frog people on ebay waiting for another green friend for their collection; good luck. I've added a couple paintings to the available gallery as well. A geometric oddity as well as two nice Maine paintings. Please check them out. Also don't forget that I put up the journal page; its called "web log" on the menu on the bottom left. The Isle Au Haut painting below will go up on ebay this thursday if it doesn't sell first.
January 11, 2009 I'm still working on the night painting from below. Its proving to be quite a challenge getting the correct tones for viewing in and out of light. I think adding some glow in the dark pigment to the canvas might actually help, but I'm not going to get into that now. Tonight the painting on the right will start on ebay; its 8x10 inches which is a little smaller than my norm, but its a great work. It ends next Sunday just after 11pm (EST). One of the paintings below will go up on ebay later in the week. The other one will go to the gallery here. Both have dates of 2009 :) which means I've been a professional artist for 7 years now and full time for 3. In art terms that means I've just started and have a lot to learn, but don't be afraid as artist's early works are always the most prized in the future. The third painting below is a larger version of a painting I did in 2008 and will be ready for the available gallery here later in the week.

January 1, 2009Happy New Year!! Be safe everyone.
Many big thanks to all of my customers in 2008. I just got done marking new sale prices on the 2008 paintings in the available gallery. Most prices were cut by 25% or slightly more; some of those paintings are a great deal so don't miss out. The painting above will be starting on ebay tonight and end Sunday the 11th at 11:15 Eastern. Also, I'm about half done with my first night painting. Here is a sneak peak; this will be finished up Friday, but won't be available until the following week.
December 29, 2008We're back. Trip to Piotrkow went fine and my Polish is improving, but still more work to do with it. I don't have any pictures today as the battery poopered out in my camera on the way home. I've got a nice 14x11 Stonington, Maine painting done and a nice sunset from Winterharbor area as well; both will go up on ebay.
December 23, 2008I hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday.
We'll be out of town and away from email until the 28th. I'll just have the one painting on ebay until after Christmas and then get back into full time painting mode as the year flips. I'll reduce the prices on some of the 2008 paintings in 2009. Have fun.
December 21, 2008Our Wedding went perfect. A state wedding is a bigger deal here than in the states. There was a group right after us that must have had 40 people. It was a very basic civil service that took about 15 minutes in all and there was a keyboard player who also played a saw for us. Check the weblog for that one. Our translator did great work and even brought us flowers.
The painting above will start on Ebay tonight (11:16pm EST) and end next Sunday - 7 day auction. I'll most likely add some more to ebay later in the week so they'll end after the new year; this is the opposite of what I did last year.
December 19, 2008Saturday I'm getting married (state wedding) in Warsaw. It'll take about 30 minutes and I'll have my translator there, and I'm looking forward to it. It takes about 1.5 years to be allowed to marry a Polish girl for someone like me after going through all of the paperwork and what not. The longest part was waiting for the court to allow me, as an American, to not have to show official proof that I am free to get married from the states - this document does not exist. The embassy helps with that situation here. I'm not going to go into the specifics of what is required, but I will recommend to other people in my situation to just go to Las Vegas and save time and money.
May 23rd is the real wedding. I don't have time tonight, but I'll add some pictures of that church to the journal page Sunday night or Monday.
I've got a small handful of paintings done and one of them will be on Ebay Sunday night (7 day auction) and some other ones in the available gallery here including a large Monhegan painting. The painting below of Pope John Paul II is for Justyna's grandparents. Its painted from a popular photo taken when he visited Denver in 1993. BC was omitted. Its for a specific frame and the matt is part of it. I normally don't recomment matting oil paintings, but since the painting is so small 5.75x5.75" I think its okay here.
December 4, 2008 The painting on the left will start on ebay tonight and end on Sunday, December 14; its 6x8 inches. The other painting below is from the Birkenau camp which is part of Auschwitz. The scene is from inside the camp and is 8 x 6 inches. If you want the painting let me know. Its free (previous customers only), but it'd be great if you could help with shipping. (edit: the birkenau painting found a collection to be in)

November 28, 2008 The painting on the right will start on ebay tonight and end on Monday, December 8; its 14x11 inches (edit: link fixed). The other two paintings below are 6x8 inches and are daily paintings. They could have made a set, but I opted to vary the backgrounds to build the best color composition. There is a granny smith background and red delicious - each carefully complemented to the fruit. Granny smith apples are quite pricy in Poland so I just bought that one, but the other apples are about 1.70zl per kilogram which is about 30 cents per lb so I consumed some of my potential subjects.

November 23, 2008Happy Birthday James
The Web log page (formerly known as the journal) is back and all of the pages along with it are also up. There is no new content at this moment though, but it'll be possible to add new content now. Firstly I have some pictures from SE Poland to put up and some odds and ends to talk about.
I've been working on several still lives and setting up compositions related to those. Here is the first one that is very near done; the mushrooms and left onions still need some refinement and a shadow. Hopefully I'll get another cloudy day for working on it Monday. edit: work in progress image removed; its completed now (see above)
November 20, 2008I'm in the middle of putting the journal/web log page back up. Its taking quite a bit of time as there were quite a few different pages that needed to be put in the new format plus image size tags to help with loading. I've got a couple great paintings done that will show up very soon; I think one will start on ebay Friday night. Here are a couple more I've finished these past couple days.
November 13, 2008Lots of pictures today. Here are some thumbnails of some paintings that will be available soon. I have not decided which will go to ebay and which will not so I don't have large digitals on the site yet, but if you see one you like let me know.
November 4, 2008
I've made a template for 6 x 8 canvas boards (I cut these myself from metric sizes) and I've already started painting on these smaller canvases. I've wanted to work with this smaller size to open up some compositions that would not normally work with a 11x14. The second reason is to be able to paint at least one a day - so thru November be sure to check the site near daily. The paintings will be priced well and some will go up on ebay. Anything goes for subjects.
October 25, 2008Painting above is on ebay now. I'm actually heading out for the weekend to go to Justyna's Parents and visit. When I get back I'll put the painting below of Cincinnati, Ohio up on ebay too with a low starting bid. Have fun.

October 9, 2008Justyna and I are both back at work now. I've been goofing around with my camera today trying to get it to take the best possible pictures of paintings as possible; we've made some progress. There are a couple paintings starting on ebay tonight. (first two - click picture to go to auction). There are several others that will be for sale from here. I don't know where to post the Wetlina pictures yet; we might see a return of the journal page.

September 26, 2008Vacation to the south eastern mountain range went decently. It did manage to rain every single minute we were there and we got a low fog the entire time. This actually wasn't as bad as it sounds; we saw real sheep dogs, flocks of sheep, and European mountain life. After getting back to Warsaw I had family in town for the week and now we are going back to Piotrkow to attend a wedding for Justyna's cousin. Its been over two weeks since I've painted and its calling; I hope I havent forgot how to work. I'll post some vacation pictures somewhere to show off the small city of Wetlina and surrounding areas after the wedding. Have fun.
September 15, 2008I'll be out of town from now until Sunday the 21st. I won't be getting emails or have internet access. I ran out of time to start a painting on ebay, but there is a quick digital of it below. Actually... Justyna is using up a couple weeks of vacation prior to starting a new job and I've been slacking on working as well. Thinking back over the past two weeks we've been busy with projects, events, and an information and welcome meeting at the US embassy here. I'll have some cool stuff to post when we're back. Our wedding date has also been adjusted. Its two weeks earlier; it is now May 23, 2009.
![[painting: Monhegan Road Houses Lighthouse]](journal/journal169.jpg)
September 8, 2008I'm going to start sending ebay reminder emails to folks that have signed up for them or are previous customers. Let me know if you want to opt in or out. I've got a couple paintings to list, but I'll be out of town from the 16th to the 22nd. Look for a painting to start this Thursday and a couple posted to the available gallery at that time too.
August 15, 2008There is a new ebay painting (see link above) and here is the frog painting that will go up on ebay in the near future as well. Below that are two paintings that are for the available gallery here. This weekend I'll be out of town again for another wedding. Make sure to cheer for the Polish Volleyball team in their coming matches.
![[painting: Golden Frog]](journal/journal168.jpg)
August 6, 2008I finished a nice frog painting today; it will be titled "golden frog" and will go up on ebay in the near future. I fixed a couple links that were not working on the site and made a couple small revisions to code... yawn.
The big news: The Miller Gallery and I have decided to part ways. They had been selling small paintings and a couple larger ones in Cincinnati for me. They were not able to sell the two larger ones and now I need to find homes for them. I'd be most interested in offers for The Veil and John Henry. Both are good paintings. I'll consider any reasonable offer. The Veil is framed and John Henry is not. Email me if you have any questions.
August 4, 2008More wedding related things this past weekend; it seems that Justyna's friends/family are all getting married the same year. We did get to see the largest open face coal mine in Europe on Sunday. It was quite impressive. We climbed a mountain that was made with the excess land material and I'm proud to report that there were frogs found on the top that had the correct number of legs. I've updated the ebay auction above and have a couple paintings that'll go up to the available gallery soon - mostly Maine paintings. Gull Rock will go up on ebay this coming Thursday; don't forget to put your bid in as I think it'll sell very reasonably.
July 29, 2008This past weekend was busy with non painting things (wedding, name day party, and travel), but I did get some work done in Piotrkow at the garden and I've got a couple new paintings to post this week. If you are a previous customer and there is something in the available gallery you have your eye on please remember that you'll get 15% off until the end of the month.
July 20, 2008I've worked out a couple bugs with the new page this weekend. One of them was showing up with Firefox 3.0 and not 2.x. Nothing super big, but the gallery sections should be working a little better now. Last week I finished adding old and new artwork to the sold galleries on the left. I added my advertisement link to the available gallery page; it had gotten lost in updates before.
I've got a couple paintings done that will be ready to sell very soon. Here are some digitals of them below. In order they will be titled, Red House view of Manana (Monhegan) SOLD, Eggemoggin Reach Rocks, Captain and The Elizabeth Ann. All of them are 14x11.
![[painting: Red House view of Manana]](journal/journal165.jpg)
![[painting: Eggemoggin Reach Rocks]](journal/journal166.jpg)
July 13, 2008 The painting to the right will start on ebay tonight and end on Wednesday the 23rd. The title is Top of Monhegan and its similar to a number of works I did in 2006, but there is some technique differences as well as the palette is a little more restricted. The auction link above will be for the painting that is ending the soonest in cases when I have multiple paintings up for auction - which happens from time to time.
July 11, 2008I've got the new website up and running. After some testing I've found that its best viewed with Mozilla Firefox. The problems you will have with IE is closing windows when viewing the digitals of paintings in the galleries. Depending on your settings you might have to manually close a new window or tab plus you might have an annoying bar at the top saying its blocking active X content. If you want to allow the active X content please feel free as all I run is a small script to close a window when you press close and a statcounter that collects non personal hit data.
All of the other links to the left are about the same with the content in updated form. The site should load a little quicker too as its not as table heavy as the last one. I'll be adding image "alt" tags and sizes as the new site gets updated; I went back and added images sizes to this page already. The older updates dating more than a year ago have been archived.
Previous customers: From July 12 - July 31, 2008 I'm offering 15% off the marked prices on any of the available paintings; free shipping is included as well.
July 3, 2008Have a super Independence day (U.S. folks). Be double secret safe over the weekend and if your name is Brokaw do not do something stupid with fireworks. I'm flying my treasured U.S. flag on the balcony here in Poland; its from an old friend.
The painting here starts on ebay tonight and will end on Sunday the 13th just after 11pm (eastern). After working through the gallery pages and coming up with some new ideas for the HTML on those I've also decided to redo quite a bit of the website to give it a more professional appearance. Its going to take some time to finish and I'll keep it all offline until done and tested.
June 22, 2008 The painting to the right will start on ebay tonight. This is Bass Harbor Light which is on the southern tip of Mount Desert Island. It'll be scheduled to start just before the other one ends and will finish on Wednesday the 2nd. I was working on adding about 6 digitals of other paintings, but they turned out bad and the sun is too warm right now to get replacement digitals; I will share one that came out well that will get added to the available gallery very soon. This week I'll be adding images of sold paintings to the correct categories; often times paintings that sell on ebay take a bit of time to get posted to the gallery headers to the left.
June 12, 2008 This is up on ebay starting thursday evening. It will end Sunday night the 21st. Click picture to be taken to the auction. I've got about 6 paintings that are at some stage prior to being done that will probably get posted first thing next week. I'll be out of town this weekend to be with family and to do some work at their garden plot thing (its one of those European things where your garden is a bike ride from your home). Lots of flowers, garden buildings, and perhaps a toad or two.
June 7, 2008I've been a little quiet, but I've been painting all week and have a couple to share right now and several others very soon. The painting below is from a small castle courtyard near the Pieniny Mountains. It'll go up on ebay soon. The second one is Bangor, Maine behind the Greyhound bus terminal and looking at the digital it seems to need a couple straight lines. Its part of a series of paintings and won't be for sale yet.
This page was taking a little bit of time to load so I moved some of the older updates to the archive. Its basically the second page which is linked at the end of this one.

May 28, 2008I made a mistake on yesterdays journal entry. I didn't actually post the digital of the Monhegan painting that is going up on ebay this thursday. Edit: Painting is below and you can click it and be brought to the ebay auction once it starts Thursday at 11:12pm Eastern. Lighting hasn't been so good the past couple days so the digitals for this painting are grainy; I'll swap in some better digitals this weekend.

Early next week I'll have a Bangor Maine painting and a Poland castle painting to post. Later on there is a wooden boat painting and a corn field with rich muds so please check back.
May 27, 2008Here is Dunkin' Donuts as promised. It turned out well. It may end up in the available gallery here soon, but I might keep this for my personal collection. The painting below of Monhegan, Maine will be scheduled on ebay for Thursday night... end on Sunday. It also got a few touchups so I'll redo the digital image Wednesday. Tonight we are checking out the Indiana Jones movie so this is all the update there is for today.

May 25, 2008Thanks for voting below. If you have not done so please feel free. It doesn't reload the page and is very quick. You can view the results after voting in a little popup window.
The painting below is finished and in the available gallery. I noticed I didn't have a painting for sale in the "other" categorie and figured it needed something strong. This week I've got another one similar to this; its a painting of Dunkin' Donuts. I never was a big fan of the store, but I hear they have great coffee and we all love donuts! Have fun and thanks to everyone for watching my ebay auctions.

May 13, 2008Please vote at the right if you have not. Its spam free. I scheduled the painting below for ebay tonight. It'll end on a Sunday. Its very winable so don't forget to bid.
May 8, 2008 I scheduled a Monhegan painting on ebay tonight. It starts just after 11pm Eastern and you can access the auction by clicking on the image to the right (once it starts). I've got several other paintings done too that are shown below. In order the first one is Monhegan and will go up on ebay late in the week, the second will go in my available gallery here at a great price, the third will also go to the available gallery here (Edit: sold), and the last one will also go to the available gallery here for now (I'm looking for a gallery in Warsaw at the moment for my Poland paintings). All are 14x11 inches

April 27, 2008I've got two paintings scheduled for ebay. Both are very strong and very win-able. Here are some pictures of them - click picture to be brought to the auction once they start (Thursday night for red house and Saturday night for Stonington). I'm actually going to be out of town this weekend as I'm going to the Pieniny Mountains to do some work. You can click that link above and click next pictures to see some comment and photographs of the area. Its south of Krakow and about 7 hours from Warsaw. I'll update my journal page with info once back.
April 17, 2008Paintings below are done and may go up on ebay soon. I'm going to schedule them to end once I'm back from Krakow on or after Tuesday the 29th. Edit: I updated the digital of Lupines and Cat. The digital is a little dark, but colors are fairly close. This is a 14 x 11 inch painting and won't go up on ebay for now, but can be found in the available gallery.

April 15, 2008Two paintings below are done. first one of Alex is a gift for Matania and the second is the red house on Monhegan that recently changed hands. The 3rd picture is a sneak peek of a work in progress that should be done this week.

April 13, 2008I'm still touching up the still life below and decided to keep a small number of paintings off ebay and make them only available here at great prices. You can see them in the available gallery to the left.
I'm going to be in Piotrkow next weekend (April 19 - 21) and then Krakow the following weekend/week (April 26 - 29) to do some work. This coming week I'll have a number of paintings finished including a large Maine scene and another featuring the Cloth Hall in a very attractive dry brush style.
April 7, 2008These two will show up on ebay soon and I'll get some better digitals of them as well. I might actually do a couple touch ups on the still life.

March 28, 2008Two for ebay that started last night; both are solid paintings. Click on images below to be taken to the auctions which will end on Sunday, April 6 in the evening.
March 27, 2008Dublin went great. I got to go to the museum and several other great places. I regret that I didn't have a companion to pub hop with me, but next time perhaps. Here are some pictures from Dublin that are rather unimpressive.

I added some sold paintings to their correct galleries to the left. There is also a really good painting from Ohio I added to the available gallery pictured below.
March 9, 2008I'm going to be in Dublin, Ireland for a couple days to do some research and hopefully get some painting done and will be away from email and such. If you have an art emergency please leave a message and I'll get back to you asap.
Have fun, Bryan

March 5, 2008ateSome of the dates below have been wrong, but I corrected the ones to January; the year incorrectly said 2007. I've gone back to a standard canvas size now and will be having quite a few 14x11 paintings again. If you have one or more of my paintings the chances are they are 14x11. Its been nice going back to the size I got so used to. Here are two that I finished over the weekend and first part of the week. One is from Poland and the other Winton Woods in Cincinnati.

Feb. 27, 2008The painting below will be in the available gallery once its dry. Its from the Unknown Soldier Memorial in Warsaw which is where the Saxon Palace used to be before it was blown up by Germans in World War 2.

The painting below is in the available gallery. Its the first Poland painting, painted in Poland, thats for sale from this site. There is a painting ending tonight on ebay so don't miss that and there are two more ending on Sunday evening. Another painting will go up this Thursday, but I'm not sure which one yet.
Feb. 24, 2008In haste I made some spelling errors below and they are corrected now. I was in Piotrkow this weekend and didn't get any large amount of work done, but I might be able to sneak out a small train station painting this coming week from there. Here is a small painting I did that is similar to a larger one below, but completely different weather effects. It will most likely end up on ebay once I get some better digitals of it.

Feb. 22, 2008I made a small website update to add user action to the tables. Its quite simple; you can see it when you move your mouse over each journal update section - the cell will highlight. I know what you are thinking... I should be painting rather than goofing around with the bells and whistles of the website and you are right, but today I'm busy making pierogo and possibly cookies for Justyna's parents.
Here is the code for you HTML buffs: 1) Add contents of item 1 below into your stylesheet; you can adjust the hex color numbers as needed, but remember this doesn't change font colors. 2) Next change your table's TD like the one below - only that cell will change colors.
1)
<style>
<!--
TD.off {BACKGROUND: #dddddb}
TD.on {BACKGROUND: #ededec}
-->
</style>
2)
<TD class="off" onmouseover="this.className='on'"
onmouseout="this.className='off'">

Feb. 21, 2008I feel like I am in full artist mode. Lots of great paintings are coming up. Here are two for ebay starting tonight.
Feb. 17, 2008Another Stonington Painting is up on ebay starting Sunday night. The link will work once the auction starts.
Feb. 13, 2008I've been busy painting and have a couple great works ready. One is starting on ebay tonight and the other will start soon. Here are pictures of them; I'll change the pictures to links to the ebay auctions later once they start. If you must have one of them before they start on ebay send me an email asap. Have fun :)
Feb. 7, 2008I've been doing some online promotion of my art and now have an account on artwanted.com. I also will be participating with deviant art again; I have yet to update my portfolio there, but there is some work there thats not here. On top of those I also participate with wetcanvas which is an artist forum.
There are more auctions coming up so please stop back and don't be afraid of emailing me anything at all. I also finished these small paintings this week. Please inquire if one interests you; all are in the 14x11 size range, but they vary.

Feb. 5, 2008The painting below will start on ebay Tuesday night at 11:15 Eastern. Its 12x9 and the auction will end on a Friday so get those bids in early as bidding is usually slow on Fridays :)
Click image to be taken to the auction.
Feb. 3, 2008Superbowl! Not in Europe though :( We got to watch assorted snow based single person sports this afternoon. Not the super-commercialized over powerhoused sports carnival-o-rama double super one.
On a more serious note I've started some auctions on ebay. Click image below for the link to the first one. I'll make more webpage entries for the other auctions.
Feb. 1, 2007I took a break from smaller paintings and did these two these past couple weeks. One is a larger version of a smaller painting below and both are 27x20 inches. Look for some small ones up on ebay soon; I'll link them from here. Click images below for larger version. Both of these below are sold.

January 16, 2007Here are a couple new paintings to share; some are intended for ebay starting in February, but please let me know if one of them interests you. Digitals have bad blue saturation and slightly blurry/noisy. First one is from Mt. Adams in Cincinnati. The next two are from Monhegan featuring lobster cove rocks and the school house and the last one is Stonington Maine.

January 11, 2007Here are a couple new paintings to share. The first one is from my day trip to Berlin and features the train station there in the early evening. The second painting is the wreck of the Sheridan on Monhegan and the third is the house near lobster cove also on Monhegan.

January 6, 2007The available gallery got a number of additions today. The images below were moved over there and I added some brand new ones from Maine. I've been doing some great paintings lately and I look forward to getting back on ebay with some more small paintings again soon. Here are the two newest paintings:
December 29, 2007It was finally sunny today. Really the first all sunny day since I've been here or about 3 months. First priority was getting digitals which can be seen in the available gallery. Some of these will go to ebay soon - most likely mid to late January. Sizes are between 8x10 inches and 16x12 inches, but some are in cm. I have larger digitals of all of these; let me know if one interests you and I can send it out. Digitals are fairly close, but the blue saturation is a little short.
December 12, 2007I've finished a bunch of paintings, but its been cloudy so no digitals yet. I tried getting some inside pictures, but glare and lighting was too bad for anything good as seen below. This is a painting of a statue sculpted by Boleslaw Syrewicz of Ludwik Kronenberg in the museum in Warsaw. - Image moved to Dec. 29 update.
December 9, 2007It appears that the whiteheadgallery is not being used by someone in China as a "sender" for spam anymore. I haven't gotten returns for a couple days. At the worst it was about 100 returns a day which isn't too bad and no one has complained which is best.
I added some more images to the free stuff link to the left. There are 4 total from Isle Au Haut and they'll make great desktops. I'll add some more from Warsaw soon.
November 30, 2007I've had some problems getting digitals here, but I'm doing well painting - especially with the big window in my painting room - although it gets dark at 3:30 here. Several paintings are not ready to post yet because of the poor digital quality. Below are some that came out okay after some adjustments; let me know if you'd like to buy one. - images moved to Dec. 29 update.

November 24, 2007Stuff is finally here. It was delivered Thanksgiving night at 9:45pm. I seem to have left a couple things behind I didn't intend to, but everything arrived safely and without getting damaged. Justyna and I have arranged our apartment already and everything is in place and I'll begin painting first thing Monday as a professional painter again. Before I was limited in supplies and only had the basics which kept my workspace to the kitchen table. Several items arrived from my mom as well which will help fill food related holes. I'll have some nice ebay paintings coming up this week and will post them when done. The paintings below are also for sale now.
November 7, 2007These two paintings are done. Despite being in Poland I finished a painting that was on my mind since the last time I drove to the Cincinnati Art Club meeting. This is Mitchell Avenue facing West in the heart of Avondale. When the sun sets it always creates an interesting color on the distant hillside. See the painting below for results. The second painting is from Poland on a very sunny mid morning. The scene is the North East side of the old town with the Wisla in the background. The first one will probably go to Miller Gallery and the Poland painting is for sale with an asking price of $200 (includes shipping); both are 13"x10.5" and digitals are a bit blurred.

I'm still waiting on my stuff. Its in customs now waiting to be inventoried and paid for which I'll do Wednesday. On top of sales tax I paid initially for the stuff I now get to pay VAT tax (22%) on its value.
October 29, 2007My supplies should be getting here this week, but on Saturday the 3rd. I think I can go about 1 more week of non-serious painting before I start going cooky. I've been doing preliminary work in assorted locations around Warsaw. Places I've started with are the old town and Łazienki Park (Wazienki). I made a friend at the park. Here the squirrel below wanted everything to do with me. He climbed my leg twice and really wanted me to produce some type of treat, but unfortunately I had none, but I'll be ready next time.
As paintings are finished I'll post them here and then move them to the available gallery (which is empty at the moment). Small paintings will also go on ebay if they go unsold to my previous customers after a couple days. Be sure to check back often and I'll try to have something posted near daily to keep your interest. This week I'm going to move some digitals around on the site.
October 14, 2007I've secured some art supply stores. There is one that has a tremendous amount of stretched canvas and several of the makes are on par with my standards which will allow for more painting and less stretching. The sizes are nearly 90% metric and I want to continue painting in the 14x11 inch and 16x20 inch sizes so I've got more searching to do. I've also got all translations needed for some of the other supplies. I'm still looking for a thin plywood with glued canvas plein air type board to paint on. I'll probably have some works done by this weekend, but I still don't have my normal working supplies so what I get done will be small.
October 5, 2007Still no painting going on yet and with a wedding to go to this weekend its looking like it'll be next week before I get started. I have a limited amount of supplies now, but there are art stores near that have great artist stuff.
It seems that coke here in Europe has about half the calories of coke in the states. It tastes quite different and I'm sure its another reason why the folks here are thinner than in the states. I checked the calories on pepsi and other drinks and they're all about the same. They also don't use corn syrup.
Microsoft surface is being introduced in Europe sometime soon too. Perhaps we'll see blue screen tables in our restaurants and bars.

September 30, 2007I'm in Poland now. Delta flight was late and I missed the first trip to Warsaw so I had to wait a day. In general many of the flights were late. Its actually somewhat comical considering planned delays, mechanical delays, and then taxi delays.
Poland is nice though and Justyna and I are together again. I'll start working on some paintings very soon, yet I won't have a good work area until my stuff arrives in another couple weeks and I also don't have my email set up completely.
John Henry is at the Miller Gallery if you'd like to see it. I'm not certain on pricing, but I believe we tried to get it under 12.
September 24, 2007John Henry = DoneMy experience in the states is complete. Here is the result.
I have not updated the process write up yet, but I'll do that next week once I get to Poland. To be honest I've worked on it so hard and long I can't decide how well it turned out yet. It doesn't have a varnish on it and the paint is a bit chalky in the dark areas. I'll get some good digitals of it as soon as possible, but here is what I got tonight. The painting is 4 x 6 feet; and will require a large wall and multiple overhead lighting.

Many thanks to my friend Rodrick. He did the modeling and critiqueing. He is an up and coming actor, model, and creative guru. Email him at the above link for work inquiries.

September 5, 2007I'm going to paint a couple more paintings and start boxing up all of my stuff. I have a few smaller paintings that will go up on ebay next week. Once I get my supplies in Poland I'll be painting 100% of the time compared to maybe 60% of it now. I'm looking forward to that and progressing my skills. The journal page is getting regular updates now as I've moved to a more robust "journal" system; its more of a blog now. I promise that reading it will not make you more stupid.
I had an HTML bug that was causing some format errors on this page of the site; the tables can get nested pretty deep and be problematic to troubleshoot with my text editor. I've also changed old updates to other pages rather than commenting them out. On the bottom of the page is a link to the next and older page. I don't expect people to be interested in old news, but its there if needed.
September 5, 2007I'm going to allow the sale paintings to fall down into the news page.
Over the past couple weeks I've completed quite a few paintings. I think 7 total. Here are three of them. The first one is a research based interpretation of a rock formation on Monhegan and a Hopper painting. The second and third are the union terminal building in Cincinnati. The third one was done with a new process for me. Basically I used a 6B pencil to define all the forms on canvas prior to painting and then thinly applied paint over it. This yielded an interesting result and I'll work on this process further to be able to put in my bag of tricks. Enough blabbering; enjoy the paintings and feel free to make an offer if you like one (edit: both union terminal railroad paintings sold). Sizes are 14x12, 20x16, and 22x18. Digitals are not great, but I'll update them as soon as I get some good light.

September 3, 2007This week I'll be in Cincinnati and painting non-stop. There are a number of small paintings that are done that'll be up on ebay soon. I've not decided, but I might offer them to my previous customers here first at very fair prices. A couple of them are very good.
I'm going to be doing quite a few more journal entries; many will be totally useless, but I want to make sure there is new content on this site near daily.
August 28, 2007The other day I wanted to sum up my my journey from the States to Poland in a painting. This is what I came up with and I'll comment on it and give an artist interpretation of it soon.

Previous update: Thanks to Rodrick I am working again on John Henry and I've been busy with it all of the day so far. I still have yet to put paint down, but I'll get some updates on it over the weekend. I'm getting excited as it gets close to done.I basically re-started the shirt and got the first layer of paint down on the John Henry Painting. Its a slightly different process when painting over old paint and I'll go over it soon (no updates today).
This is a super quick painting done over an old painting that had crazy thick stroke work in a horizontal pattern. I was mostly experimenting with that with a quick style. Despite its lack of subject its actually looking interesting because of the understroke. I'll put this painting up on ebay soon. Its titled Rodrick's View
August 22, 2007This painting of the view from Janowiec in the Lublin region of Poland (Kazimierz Dolny) is just about done. The final layer will be the texture and character layer. Basically the items with edges will get defined a bit more and forms will develop. I've also boogered (artistically messed up) the blue balance in the tree forms as they go into the distance and it'll get mathematically fixed. I've commented in my journal about Kazimierz so I will refrain from redundancy. I'll breifly offer this painting on the website and then it will go to the gallery so please be quick. Its priced extremely well at $900 framed (not made yet)

I'm continuing the sale of art below. I'll keep it one update down in the list. I've not had many offers on paintings. Please don't be shy; I'm aware that these paintings are not the best, but I would like them to sell :)
August 13, 2007Couple more small works done for ebay.

Currently I'm working on putting together a list of paintings that need homes. I'm going to accept any offers on them very soon. Many of these paintings are quite good and most are early works. While they are technically solid they may not have aesthetic quality. Mike at the art club said to me once that all paintings will sell... which I took as meaning they could be sold as colorful kindling up to rare representations of an artist's early work once I'm over the rainbow. Either way I'd rather find homes for them prior to moving to Europe.
August 13, 2007This is done. I started this a month ago or so and I wasn't quite happy with it. I reworked the color balances and adjusted everything and basically repainted it. Interestingly the underpainting is showing in areas and its looking very nice now. There is an attractive buildup of paint in detail areas. I want to sell it prior to going to Poland so... I'm going to under price it at $900 or $950 framed. Its 32x22 inches and I'll get better digitals Monday afternoon/eve.

I will have a number of paintings for sale soon at very fair discounts. Basically they're good paintings, but not my best and I would rather not move them to Poland. Look for those in the close future.
I updated the John Henry Painting a bit more. Its coming right along. I'm estimating only 40 hours left on it which will put me under 325 total.
August 9, 2007No John Henry updates today, but for folks outside of American culture or those who haven't felt the Legend please check these links for more info.
I'll add my own experiences later as the painting wraps up.
August 7, 2007Maine withdrawal hit hard last night so I started these two paintings and finished them both tonight. I've been working on a 2 layer process and blending technique that I hammered out with these two. Digital pictures won't be able to show the fine gradient in the sky; my high school art teacher would be proud :) Both will be up on ebay over the next couple days.

No new updates for John Henry tonight. I'm still mentally working on some ideas and fixes for some issues I'm having with it. Thanks for your emails of support / encouragement.
August 6, 2007I updated the John Henry painting a couple times more. see link below (july 31) for those progress pictures. Basically I'm done with the 2nd layer on everything and the forms/structures are done. The rest of the painting is down hill.
I haven't had any pictures to post lately so I went through my archive and found this little guy. Its one of my early paintings. This was right after I did an outdoor show and I brought home all the paintings that didn't sell... which was all but one :) I've gotten quite a bit better in the last 4 years though. Once I'm done with John Henry I'll post some more work.
July 31, 2007Be sure to check out the demo I'm working on for the John Henry Painting. No new updates tonight, but I did work on it some more and the sky and ground are essentially done. I won't get a chance to work on the shirt or face until Thursday or Friday as I'll need the entire day to move the paint. I'm really liking the first layer on the pants and probably won't work on those anymore. Due to demand I'll get a couple small Maine paintings done Tuesday and Wednesday and work on the monhegan one thats yet to be finished.
July 27, 2007Be sure to check out the demo I'm working on for the John Henry Painting which is currently being updated as the work progresses. Each night after working on it the page will get added to. The drawing took 20 hours to do, but I'm moving right along with the underpainting which will actually be the final layer in some spots.
July 25, 2007 John Henry painting is stretched and primed. It took all night to gesso it; I've never been too fond of painting on the gesso, but I enjoyed this large canvas. The gesso caused some warpage of the stretchers so I'll have to redo those thursday and then start the drawing. Hats off to Rodrick who is doing the modelling.
This painting, which I did in 2004 and kept in my collection because I was never quite happy with it, got some updates and its now done and quite strong. Its 24 x 30 and I'll get a better digital soon. Somehow whenever I update the website I never have good digitals. I finished up another painting for ebay too which is 16x20 and is good. I'll link that and post it here soon.
July 23, 2007Two newest paintngs; they're both 14x11 and will go to the gallery. The first one is showing pretty good, but the second one the digital is not so good.

I've started work on my American folk legend painting and will release details later once I start getting some paint down. I'll keep track of hours spent on it, but for now I'm predicting 325.
July 17, 2007I signed a gallery contract with Miller Gallery. They will be selling a selection of my best works including The Veil. For right now things won't change too much while I'm in the states, but they will be my main representation when I'm in Poland. This website will be updated as such over the next couple days, but I did most of the work already.
July 11, 2007 Masha painting is getting close to being wrapped up and will be available soon. Paintings like this require 6 months to dry before a layer of varnish can be applied. This is titled Masha's Leave. Despite my best attempts I'm still unable to get a digital of this I'm happy with, but I'll keep trying and update as necessary. The story about this work is told in the composition, setting, postures, and tones.
I've been juggling a couple things around on the site. If you are a frequent visitor you might notice some changes. The downside to writing html by hand is it takes a bit of time to do changes, but its most important that the load times are quick despite being image heavy. If you see spelling errors you can report them to me and I'll give you 5 artist points :) If english is your second language and you find spelling errors you get 15 artist points. Have fun!
July 10, 2007This painting is done. The heavy contrast composition has eluded my skills for some time; I've finally figured out some paint application techniques to deal with low sun situations like this. Its strong. Painted Alla Prima over 11 hours with pre toned canvas that was carefully under washed. Enough talk -> see picture below. Size is 22x18 inches. Edit: SOLD; thanks

July 8, 2007This painting is done. Well.. I'm saying done, but I'm sure after a couple days I'll change a couple things a bit as I see them. Right now I'm thinking about adding a couple little grass forms to help round out the composition a bit more. Its heavy on the right, but I wanted to get this scene truthfully and historically accurate. It'll be for sale as soon as I'm sure its done :).

June 18, 2007Just a reminder: check out the Maine Stock images if you are interested.
I've got a couple paintings done; the untitled snow scene is large and going to the gallery.

The Maine stock image department is now open. I compiled about 2400 pictures of assorted Maine stuff and have a DVD set for sale now. Artist's or other creative folks interested in the set of Maine Images can see the complete collection of thumbnails and some sample images from the link Buy -> Maine Images to the left. This is the same set of images I'll be working from when I am in Poland and not able to get to Maine.
Cost on the entire set on DVD is $90 with other pricing/format options.
Here is a small example of the collection followed by an Edward Hopper painting of the same subject.

June 17, 2007I'm back from the Vacation State. I've got a couple paintings going on that won't be ready for a bit and I'm busy getting back into the swing of things in Cincinnati. One project I'm working on is a DVD of stock images from my travels around Maine. The purpose of this is for artists to be able pull ideas from and will be for sale sometime very soon. I'm not exactly sure how I'm going to display the images on this website as examples or the price. I do know that it will be completely royalty free and intended for artists. Check back if interested.
Rodrick has agreed to do some work with me so I'll have my magnum opus (If I can declare this myself) of my American experience to start soon.
May 31, 2007I'm leaving for Maine today. I'll be back in about 2 weeks and will most likely have some paintings to share at that time. The goal of the trip is to visit family. Most likely I won't be updating the website during my trip, but I'll have some stories to share when I get back. Have fun.
May 14, 2007Two smaller paintings done. Many artists paint over old paintings; I'm no different. Both of these were actually painted over paintings done in 2004. Digitals are fairly correct, but the color blend is much more subtle in the sunset one.

May 8, 2007I'm soon to start my next large painting; the research is mostle done, but I'm waiting word from my model. Details coming soon, but its going to be my largest work yet (4ft x 6ft).
Here is a digital of the framed painting from below.
April 22, 2007I completed a couple small updates to the website in the galleries. I added a couple paintings to the available page and moved a couple around to the correct pages. Nothing super great.
For the past month I've been working on this and just tonight I wrapped it up and it is intended to be a donation. I'm not sure yet what charity I want to donate it to, but its most likely going to be the Javne Fund. I'll offer the painting to them directly and if refused it'll get auctioned off on ebay as such and profits sent to the fund. This is what I experienced at Birkenau concentration camp (the larger camp near Auschwitz). This painting is viewing the restored barracks in the distance from off to the side of one of the gas chambers. The painting is 5 or 6 layers of paint each carefully planned out with moderate impasto with some negative paint knife work.
April 22, 2007 - December 31, 2005All of these updates are archived. If you need to see them for any reason please let me know. They are in old formats.
